Placement of the separator is quick and easy. It will feel like there is something caught or stuck between your teeth, like an annoying piece of food. It is normal for your teeth to be tender, particularly to eating and chewing for the first few days after placement, returning back to normal quickly.
Separators are usually in place for a week prior to your next appointment.
Please avoid chewing sticky foods to ensure the separator stays in over that week. Also avoid heavy toothbrushing and flossing in the area of the expander to ensure it remains in place.
Book a consultation with a specialist orthodontist to talk through your options and the right treatment for you.
